250 word bio

Suzanne Hobbs is an author, speaker, former television journalist and nationally recognized Safe Haven advocate whose story is a powerful example of how one person can create lasting change.

During her 14-year career in television news, Suzanne covered the heartbreaking death of a newborn who had been abandoned in a dumpster in Idaho. Rather than simply report the story and move on, she took action. Working with Idaho lawmakers, she helped champion creating the state's Safe Haven Law, giving mothers in crisis a safe, legal option to surrender a newborn.

Two years later, that work changed Suzanne's own life when she adopted her daughter through the very Safe Haven law she had helped establish.

Her remarkable full-circle story has been shared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and featured in books, magazines and media outlets across the country. Suzanne was also named one of the 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World and is the bestselling author of The Hungry Snake and author of The Sleepy Snake: A Perfect Bedtime Story.

Today, Suzanne serves as Director of Media Relations for the National Safe Haven Alliance, where she continues working to increase awareness of Safe Haven laws in all 50 states. On stage, she brings together the instincts of a journalist, the heart of a mother and the perspective of an advocate who has spent more than 25 years turning one tragic story into a mission to help save lives.
